Ukraine deployed its long-range Flamingo missile in overnight attacks deep in Russia

Ukraine used its long-range Flamingo missile in large-scale strikes on Russia’s strategic targets on the night of November 13, the General Staff of Ukrainain Armed Forces reported on Thursday.

Posting in its official Facebook page, the General Staff said the attack was aimed to undermine Russia’s war potential, while also sharing the video of the strikes. Ukrainain President Volodymyr Zelenskiy revealed in an interview in late October that domestically-made Flamingo missiles had alrady been used in the war and promised to increase the intensity of their use this year.

Being a ground-launched cruise missile, Flaminghas been developed by Ukraine’s domestic Fire Point company and has an estimated range of around 3,000 kilometers. The missile is intended for long-range precision strikes against high-value targets and has Russian capital Moscow within its range. Flamingo’s warheads are 1,150-kilograms.

The General Staff said Bars, and Liutyi missiles were used alongside Flamingo during overnight attacks that targeted Russian sites in Ukraine’s southern Zaporizhzhia region, an oil depot near Berdiansk city and the command posts operated by the 5th Guards Combined Arms Army and 127th Motorised Rifle Division of Russian Armed Forces. The missiles also struck targets deep in Russia, although the extent of damage is being verified, the General Staff said. It added that attack drones, jet-powered drones and various types of missiles, including Flamingo, Bars and Liutyi systems were deployed during the coordinated attacks. "The Ukrainian defence forces are continuing to strike targets involved in supporting the Russian occupation forces," the agency concluded
