Russian oil terminal in fire as Ukraine pounds Krasnodar region with drones

Ukraine launched drone attacks on Russia’s southern Krasnodar region on Monday, igniting an oil terminal in Slavyansk-na-Kubani city and striking another facility. According to Ukrainian Telegram channels, Slavyansk oil refinery caught fire as a result of the attack on Krasnodar, although regional authorities did not specify which enterprises had been hit. With an annual capacity of 5.2 million tons, the oil terminal has produced 4.1 million tons recently and had been hit last month.

The Operational Headquarters of the Krasnodar Territory confirmed drone attacks on two industrial facilities, stating that “fragments of UAVs fell on the territory of two enterprises. Fires occurred at the facilities and are being extinguished by emergency services.” Telegram channels reported, with reference to eyewitness reports that around seven explosions were heard over the city. In addition to the oil refinery, warehouses used for logistical support of Russian troops were struck in eastern Donetsk and central-eastern Zaporizhzhia regions. Strikes were also launched on concentrations of Russian forces in the occupied part of Yunakivka in Sumy region and Kolisnykivka in Kharkiv region, the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces reported. In addition, a Russian drone control point near Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk.

The attacks came amid Russia’s overnight air strikes on Ukraine. Ukrainian Air Forces reported a Russian barrage involving 138 drones of various types from six directions, including Iranian-made Shaheed kamikaze drones, Gerbera drones.
