Ukrainian partisans strike Kremlin logistics in deep 7-kilometer raid

The Freedom of Russia Legion, a Russian-national unit operating under Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Intelligence (HUR) has have destroyed a Russian field ammunition depot in the Kharkiv region.

According to a HUR report on Telegram, the reconnaissance and sabotage group operated deep behind Russian lines, advancing more than 7 km into Russian positions to locate and destroy the depot along with its guards. “We completed the task without losses and blew up the enemy’s supply as effectively as possible,” HUR said.

According to HUR, the destroyed ammunition depot had supported the supply and rotation of Russian forces in the Kupyansk sector, and its loss weakened the tactical stability of Kremlin troops. Previously, legion units disrupted a logistics route in the Zaporizhzhia sector that had been used to transport metal for military infrastructure in occupied Crimea.

Special forces also struck a drone control site in the Pokrovsk sector, killing operators and destroying command elements used for reconnaissance and fire coordination.

“Our objective is to disrupt the enemy’s command and logistics well before the front line,” the legion said. The LSR has been conducting operations behind Russian lines since late 2022, carrying out targeted sabotage and strikes against logistics hubs, transport corridors, and command facilities.

In July 2025, HUR special forces operating within the legion carried out an ambush against fighters from Chechnya’s Akhmat unit near the village of Velyka Bilozerka in te Zaporizhzhia region.

The Akhmat unit, largely composed of Chechen security personnel, is part of Russia’s National Guard and reports directly to Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. HUR said LSR fighters advanced more than 30 kilometers into Russian-occupied territory, where they killed three National Guard members before withdrawing without losses.

According to HUR, the operation involved detonating a vehicle, which caused the deaths of the three Akhmat fighters. Ukrainian intelligence also gathered information on Russian logistics, military equipment, and command posts during the raid.
