Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has said that his army will resume long-range missile attacks on Russian in response to Russian attacks. Zelenskiy made the remarks on evening address on Friday.
Zelenskiy did not provide further details about the planned attacks. Ukraine has repeatedly deployed Western-provide long-range missiles in attacks deep in Russia and in occupied territories of Ukraine. Last year, Biden administration lifted the ban on Kyiv’s use of ATACMS long-range missile in strikes on Russia. Ukraine’s Western partners followed the suit. Furthermore, Zelenskiy hailed the country’s army for the counteroffensive in eastern Donetsk region where Russian troops had been making steady ground in the past two years.
Yesterday Zelenskiy revealed his forces had captured 160 square kilometres of land and seven villages in a major counteroffensive in Pokrovsk and Dobropillia direction in eastern Donetsk region where heavy fighting has been underway. Ukrainian troops are also holding ground in Kupiansk city in Kharkiv region, Zelenskiy said on Friday.
“Our soldiers are destroying their forces. The Russians are suffering significant losses. Our [prisoner-of-war] exchange pool has also been substantially replenished. Every day brings more Russian prisoners," Zelenskiy stated. He tanked the units involved, namely the the 79th and 82nd Air Assault Brigades; the 1st, 33rd, 225th and 425th Assault Regiments; and the 14th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Touching upon his country’s military industry, Zelenskiy said in includes domestic production and co-production with partners, as well as “supplies to Ukraine from what our partners manufacture themselves.”
