Representatives from the United States and Russia are due to hold talks in Miami on 20–21 December as part of the Donald Trump administration’s efforts to bring an end to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
According to European Pravda, citing Politico and two sources familiar with the matter, the Russian delegation is expected to include Kirill Dmitriev, head of Russia’s state-backed private equity fund.
On the American side, Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff is set to take part in the discussions alongside Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
Earlier this week, Witkoff and Kushner spent several hours in Berlin meeting with Ukrainian and European officials to discuss U.S. security guarantees for Kyiv, potential territorial compromises, and other key issues. Media reports said that during the Berlin talks, the U.S. negotiators pressed Ukraine to relinquish areas of the Donbas currently under its control.
Separately, Axios reported that the next round of Ukraine–U.S. negotiations on ending the war could be held in the United States this weekend, likely in Miami.
