Ukrainian military on Friday launched a drone attack on Afipsky oil refinery in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region for the second time this month.
Drone debris fell on the facility, sparking fire in the area of 30 square meters before being extinguished, regional crisis center said, noting that there were no casualties in the attack.
Being one of the largest oil refineries in southern Russia, Afipsky has an annual processing capacity of 9.1 million tons of crude and operates two primary processing units. The oil refinery was previously struck twice in August, resulting in the shutdown of one of the units in the facility.
The attack on Friday came one day after the drone strikes on Shchastia gas distribution stations in Ukraine’s Russian-held eastern Luhansk region. The power plant of gas distribution station, which is the main source of gas for the Russian-held region, was forced to switch to coal operation mode as a result of the attack. Earlier this week, two oil pumping stations came under drone attack in Russia’s Volgograd region.
