Ukraine’s Security Service, known as SBU, has carried out a number of operations deep in Russia, striking military and energy facilities.
Drones of the Security Service struck an arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate in the Neya District of Russia's Kostroma region, triggering strong fire and explosions. Explosions from the detonation of ammunition continued throughout the night, prompting local authorities to evacuate local residents from nearby settlements. The General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces said the consequences of the attack were being clarified. It should be noted that long-term ammunition storage complex that is part of the supply system for the Russian Ground Forces, Airborne Forces, and Aerospace Forces.
A source within the Security Service described the arsenal as an important facility that supplied ammunition to lower-level depots in the western and central direction.
Apart from the arsenal, Ukraine’s Security Forces also struck the "Gerkon Plus" oil depot in Streletskie Khutora in settlement in Russia's Lipetsk region. "In the New Year, the SBU continues to successfully target Russian military and oil facilities, reducing the enemy's ability to supply its army with ammunition and fuel. All Russian rear facilities that support the war against Ukraine are absolutely legitimate targets," a source within the agency underlined.
In another development, Ukrainian drones hit Russian UAV control points in southern parts of Pokrovsk city in eastern Donetsk region. Separately, Ukrainian forces targeted an S-300V air defense missile system radar was also hit near Novoyanisoli settlement in Donetsk.
