Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has said Kyiv was preparing for aligning points after Geneva meeting last week in order to move towards peace guarantees.
Zelenskiy made the remarks in a video address on Thursday. "Our team, together with the US representatives, will continue to translate the points we secured in Geneva into a form that puts us on the path to peace and security guarantees. There will be a meeting of delegations," Zelenskiy said.
The Ukrainian leader said his office was in close contact with Washington and the EU allies over the issue, and also thanked partners from around the world for their support. Zelenskiy stressed that the Ukrainian delegation would be well-prepared and focused on substantive work.
Earlier on Sunday, Ukrainian, US, and European officials convened in Geneva to discuss a peace plan proposed by Washington aimed at resolving the war in Ukraine. After the talks, Ukraine and the United States agreed to continue collaborating on joint peace proposals. Both parties emphasized that any future agreement must fully uphold Ukraine’s sovereignty and ensure a lasting, just peace. Following the discussions, the delegations worked on refining and updating the peace framework document.
On November 25, during a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing, President Zelensky highlighted that despite some positive outcomes from the Geneva talks, Ukraine still requires continued support from its allies.
