Ukrainian troops hit an oil depot in Russia’s Volograd region and several military targets in Russian-Ukrainian territories on Saturday, the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces reported.
The General Staff said Zhutovsk oil depot was supplying fuel to Russian army units, adding that the extent of the damage on was being clarified. Volgograd Region Governor Andrey Bocharov confirmed a drone attack on the oil depot, stating that fire broke out in the area after the fall of UAV debris. The governor said a temporary accommodation point had been put on standby in case of evacuation of residents of nearby buildings. Russian Telegram channels reported missile and drone alerts in Krasnodar region, with some claiming that oil refinery in Slavyansk-on-Kuban was targeted in the attack, although the General Staff did not address these claims.
Apart from the attack on the oil depot, the General Staff also reported that its forces truck a drone depot belonging to a unit of Russia’s 19th Motorized Rifle Division was hit in the occupied part of Zaporizhzhia region. In yet another attack, Ukrainian forces struck a drone control point in Pokrovsk city in eastern Donetsk region.
The operation on Saturday followed massive Russian drone and missile strikes on Ukraine that also included the firing of Oreshnik hypersonic missile at western Ukraine for the second time in the nearly 4-year-old war, and in a clear warning to Kyiv’s NATO allies. Four people were killed during the intense Russian barrage on Friday, according to Kyiv officials.
