Russian drone strikes kill at least two, injure dozens in Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv

At least two people were killed and over twenty others were injured in Russia’s overnight air strikes on Ukraine’s south east Zaporizhzhia region on Tuesday, local officials reported. According to Ivan Fedorov, head of the region's military administration, among the injured are four children.

The attack was launched with the use of a Tornado-S multiple launch rocket system and damaged apartment buildings, private homes, car service stations, workshops, and industrial facilities.

Four more people were injured in a Shaheed kamikaze drone attack on Kharkiv on the same day, the regional prosecutor’s office said. Video footage circulated by the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office shows one of the Shaheed drones hit a university building in the region. The head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, said the building was a civilian facility and had nothing to do with military. Syniehubov stressed that some of the drones were shot down.

"There was information from the Air Defense Forces that Shaheed drones were approaching the city, and an air raid siren sounded. Some of the Shaheed drones were shot down. One hit the administrative building of one of the higher education institutions, destroying the roof and one floor. There were no casualties inside the building, but people on the street were injured," Syniehubov said.

The strikes occurred as Russian army has been seeking to resume assault operations in the direction of the village of Malynivka in Zaporizhzhia region. According to Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, Russian troops continue “to actively shell, use kamikaze drones, and quite actively carry out air strikes with unguided air missiles. In particular, in the Huliaypole direction, it is striking the settlements of Zaliznychne and Bilohiria.”
