Russia and Ukraine on Tuesday trade accusations over air raids that killed nine people on both sides on Tuesday.
Three people were killed in Russia’s Rostov region where Ukraine launched air strikes on Russian military facilities in the port city of Taganrog. Regional governor Yury Slyusar said ten people were injured in Taganrog and the nearby Neklinovsky district. The governor said, citing preliminary reports, that a point shop, several social facilities, a warehouse, four apartment buildings, twelve private homes and vehicles were damaged in the attack.
Southern Krasnodar region was also severely hit by Ukrainian dones. Regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev described the attack on the region as “one of the most sustained and massive attacks of the Kyiv regime”. “The situation is most serious in Novorossiysk and Gelendzhik,” Kondratyev said, adding that seven apartment buidings and seven private hosues were damaged during these airstrikes.
According to the Russian Defence Ministry, air defence intercepted 249 Ukrainian drones, of them 116 downed over the Black Sea. Seventy-six more drones were downed over Krasnodar, while 16 others over Rostov region, the ministry stated.
Across the border, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that at least six people were killed and 14 others injured in overnight Russian airstrikes on the Ukrainian capital. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy wrote on X that Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Cherkasy regions were affected by Russia's strikes, stressing the attacks targeted the energy sector and "everything that keeps normal life going."
Zelenskiy added that Russian drones crossed in toe the airspaces of neighbouring Romania and Moldova. "This is precisely why all partners must remember that lives need to be saved every single day. Weapons and air defense systems are important, as is the sanctions pressure on the aggressor,”Zelenskiy posted.
