The Primorsk port in northwestern Russia resumed operations on Monday after the first reproted Ukrainian drone attack since the start of the nearly four-year-war last week.
According to Bloomberg, two oil tankers -Walrus and Samos – that came under drone attack on September 12, completed loading at the port of Primorsk over the past weekend. Walrus has already left the port, while the Samos remains at anchor with cargo destined for Turkey.
With the production capacity of 1 million barrels per day, Primorsk is a key export hub for Russian oil and the largest port in western Russia. The port loads Russian Urals oil as well as around 300,000 bpd of diesel. Around 60 million tons of oil pass through the port each year, generating approximately $15 billion for Russia.
Ukraine’s Security Service, SBU, claimed responsibility for the attack on Primorsk terminal. Estimated daily losses to the Russian budget from the halt in exports could reach up to $41 million.
