Former Russian president warns NATO over “no-fly zone”

Former Russian president and Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev said on Monday the idea of introducing a no-fly zone over Ukraine would trigger a war.

“Implementing the provocative idea of Kyiv and other idiots to create a 'no-fly zone over Ukraine' and allowing NATO countries to down our drones will mean only one thing: NATO's war with Russia," Medvedev posted on Telegram app.

His remarks follow Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski’s earlier suggestion about introduction of a no-fly zone over Ukraine.

Furthermore, Medvedev slammed European ‘Eastern Sentry’ initiative that implies deployment of  NATO troops to Poland to strengthen the alliance’s eastern flank. "This seems to be all that remains of the ‘coalition of the willing’," Medvedev said.

He also commented on Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur's visit to Ukraine. "An Estonian defense minister has arrived in Kiev. He is threatening. The smaller the country, the more aggressive and foolish its leaders tend to be," Medvedev stressed.
