Russia launched a ballistic missile at a multi-storey building in Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region on Saturday night, killing eleven people, including two children.
Regional Governor Ihor Terekhov, confirmed the attack. "A direct ballistic missile strike on a high-rise building in the Kyiv district has been confirmed. There is significant damage and a fire, and people may be trapped under the rubble," Terekhov said at 2:12 a.m.
Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Regional Military Administration, said ten people may be trapped under the rubble, including a child, adding that all necessary forces are involved at the scene, with a search and recue operation underway. The strike nearly destroyed the entrance of a five-storey residential building in the Kyivskyi district of Kharkiv, and a nearby building also sustained damage, Syniehubov added. Separately, the State Emergency Service reported that rescuers have recovered the bodies of four people from under the rubble of a five-story building.
Meanwhile, the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces reported 13 combat clashes with Russian troops on Saturday with heaviest clashes reported in Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka areas in eastern Donetsk region. Russia launched one missile strike involving 29 rockets and carried out 58 air attacks, dropping 170 glide bombs. They also deployed 6,562 kamikaze drones and conducted 2,471 shelling attacks on settlements and Ukrainian troop positions, the General Staff reported. Initial reports suggest that 39 enemy personnel were killed and 23 injured in this sector today. Additionally, two vehicles were destroyed and nine shelters were damaged. Forces also destroyed five enemy vehicle units and three artillery systems. In total, 141 drones of different types were either destroyed or neutralized through suppression.
