UK to supply Ukraine with 5,000 air defence missiles over next 19 years under $3.2 billion deal

The UK will supply Ukraine with 5,000 air defence missiles over the next 19 years in a deal valued at $3.2 billion and described as “historic” by the British government. The two countries will sign the deal on provision of missiles to Ukraine on July 10, during the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome, the British government announced in its website on Wednesday.

“We are delivering vital equipment to Ukraine while strengthening our own industrial capacity. This is a clear example of our Change Plan in action - supporting British industry, boosting exports, and standing with Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression,” British Export Minister Gareth Thomas stated, while commenting on the deal.

The deal concerns air defense missiles manufactured by Thales, with full-scale production aimed at meeting Ukraine’s air defense requirements.

This funding includes $13.4 million for Ukraine’s Public Administration Reform Program and up to $1.28 million to support Ukraine’s Green Transition Office in the 2025–2026 fiscal year. The British government also confirmed up to £283 million in bilateral assistance for Ukraine over the next year. In the statement published on its official website, the British government reiterated its commitment to support Ukraine “win the war and the peace, emerging as a stronger, more prosperous and free nation, resilient to Russian threats.”
