Russia has lost over one million soldiers in the country’s full-fledged invasion of Ukraine, Kyiv reported on June 25.
Russia has lost 1,014,650 troops, including all troops who are put out of action for some time due to deaths or injuries, the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on Wednesday. Some 950 Russian troops were killed over the past day, the General Staff added. According to estimates, Russia is losing around 1,000 soldiers each day, whether killed or injured. Kremlin’s disregard for its troops are believed to be among the reason for high losses within the Russian army
Apart from manpower, Russia has also suffered heavy losses in terms of military equipment in the war. According to the statement by Ukraine’s General Staff, as of June 25, Russian army has lost 22,885 armored fighting vehicles, 53,084 vehicles and fuel tanks, 29,569 artillery systems, 42,046 drones, 10,967 tanks, 1,425 multiple launch rocket systems, 1,188 anti-aircraft systems, 416 airplanes, 337 helicopters since the start of the full-fledged invasion in February 2022.
Russia has also suffered losses in the Black Sea, with Ukraine destroying 28 of its ships and boats since 2022. Ukraine has been relying on drones to strike Russian Navy targets as it was deprived of its submarines and warships since Russia’s annexation of Crimea Peninsula in 2014. On Tuesday, Ukrainian Navy reported striking a vessel belonging to Russian Black Sea Fleet. The night time footage of the attack shared by the Ukrainian Defence Ministry on X, showed the moment of the strike, as well as fire and smokes that engulfed the boat.
It should be noted that Russia and Ukraine do not disclose their combat losses in any detail.
