Russia's air raids kills three civilians in Kyiv

At least ten people were killed as Russia launched drone and missiles attack on two districts of Ukrainian capital Kyiv and the surrounding region on Monday, local authorities said.

Moscow said its overnight attack had targeted “military-industrial complex enterprises in the Kyiv region”.

Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia unleashed 352 drones and decoys, 11 ballistic missiles and five cruise missiles, the majority of which were intercepted. “Another massive attack on the capital. Possibly, several waves of enemy drones,” head of Kyiv’s military administration, Tymur Tkachenko, said in a statement. Residential areas in a number of districts were targeted in the attack.

Two more people were killed, among them three children, and ten others were injured in short-range drone attack on Chernihiv region on late Sunday. In yet another attack in Bila Tservka city southwest of Kyiv, one person was killed and and were injured.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Russia had used North Korean missiles in the strikes on Kyiv, calling Russia, North Kore and Iran, which has provided Moscow with Shaheed kamikaze drones a “coalition of murderers” and warned about their alliance.

Russian assault on Monday was the second-largest strike on Kyiv, with the deadliest attack launched last week when Moscow fired hundreds of drones, killing killing 28 people and injuring over 150. Thirty sites were struck in waves of attacks.

Ukraine’s commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrskii pledged to scale up strikes on Russia amid rising attacks on Kyiv. “We will not just sit in defence. Because this brings nothing and eventually leads to the fact that we still retreat, lose people and territories,” Syrski said, according to AFP.

Thousands of civilians, mostly Ukrainians, have been killed in the full-fledged war that started in February 2022.
