Dozens are killed as Russia fires ballistic missile and drones across Ukraine

Russia fired barrage of missiles and drones, including a ballistic missile across Ukraine killing 26 civilians and injuring 200 others on Tuesday as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy is attending a NATO summit.

Fifteen civilians were killed in ballistic missile attack at Dnipro city where schools, hospitals, a train and other civilian infrastructure came under barrage of Russian attacks. According to the city’s officials, the attack damaged 14 schools, a hospital, and homes in the private sector. The Odessa-Zaporizhzhia train carrying at least 500 passengers was also targeted during the attack, however there were no fatalities, local authorities said. "Russians are terrorists masquerading as a state whose sole purpose is murder and war profiteering,” the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak posted on social media along with the video footage of the burning train.

Four more civilians were killed and at least eleven others were injured as Russia shelled residential neighbourhoods and infrastructure in southern Kherson region, Oleksandr Prokudin, head of the regional military administration reported. Russia also launched drone attacks on northeastern Sumy region late Monday killing three civilians, including a child, and injuring six others. Meanwhile, the Russian Defence Ministry reported downing twenty Ukrainian drones, including fourteen over border Kursk region, on Tuesday.

Russia’s large-scale attacks, and the exchange of drones came as Zelenskiy is attending the NATO summit in Hague where he is expected to plead for more western military aid to help fight Russia.
