Ukrainian partisans disable key rail hub near Luhansk, disrupt logistics

Ukraine’s Atesh underground partisan group has carried out an act of sabotage against a crucial railway junction in occupied parts of eastern Luhansk region.  The group destroyed the railway hub, disrupting supply to the Russian forces, Atesh said in a post in its Telegram channel on Wednesday.

“Our agents destroyed a relay cabinet at the railway hub in the Luhansk area. The equipment was completely burned out - there will be no quick restoration,” the Telegram post reads. ATESH reports that this rail corridor functions as a vital logistics route for Russian forces operating toward Kupiansk and Lyman, areas currently experiencing the heaviest combat.

Supply trains moving through the junction transported ammunition, parts for armored vehicles, as well as fuel and other essential lubricants meant to support frontline assault units. “Disabling the relay cabinet has blocked traffic on this section. The trains did not arrive on time - frontline units were left without planned ammunition and spare parts resupply. This directly limits their offensive capabilities,” the group explained.

This was the second successful operation carried out by the group in Luhansk in March. Earlier on March 15, Atesh operatives sabotaged a transformer in Sievierodonetsk that supplied electricity to the headquarters of Russia’s 123rd Artillery Brigade. The blackout knocked out communications and disabled key systems, preventing the unit from coordinating operations or sending and receiving commands. In addition, the group set ablaze a Russian military vehicle in a sperate operation on March 22.
