Ukrainian drones pound 10 Russian air defence assets worth over $100m in one week

The Nemesis Brigade of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces struck ten Russian arid defence and radar systems with a combined worth of $300 million across several frontline regions over the past week.

The attack inflicted heavy losses on Russia’s layered air defence system. The high-value targets include two key radar assets: the P-18-2 Prima early-warning radar and a radar component of the S-350 Vityaz air defense system, with a combined cost of around $70 million. The systems are key in detection, tracking, and engagement coordination within Russia’s air defense network.

The S-350 Vityaz radar represents the second element of this advanced air-defense system that Nemesis operators are reported to have struck in January alone. Developed to replace legacy Soviet-era platforms, the S-350 carries an estimated price tag of around $130 million per system, underscoring the substantial financial cost and operational consequences of these repeated losses.

Apart from the radar system, Ukrainian drones also struck multiple surface-to-air missile systems that form the backbone of Russia’s multi-layered air defence system. The targeted assets include Tor-M2 systems, three Buk systems, Buk-M3 and Buk-M1, one Tunguska gun-missile air defense system, and Strela-10 short-range SAM unit.

Earlier, Achilles Unmanned Systems Brigade of Ukraine’s Air Forces hit and put out of operation Russia’s rare Borisoglebsk-2 electronic warfare system near Vovchansk city in Kharkiv region, undermining Russia’s attempts to suppress communications and drone operations. The operation to disable the scarce Russian warfare system involved multiple strike assets and precise coordination.

It's worth noting Ukrainian troops have scaled the intensity of air strikes on Russian military targets.
