Russia is losing hundreds of troops for every square kilometers of Ukraine – Kyiv says

Russia’s losses in the Ukraine frontline exceed mobiliziation rates as the Kremlin is losing 254 soldiers per square kilometers of land, and 428 in Donetsk region, Ukraine’s Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said on Wednesday.

Federov made the remarks while addressing the Ramstain format meeting. The minister spoke of Moscow’s intensified assaults on Ukraine, stressing that to destroy Ukraine’s energy system, Russia used 462 ballistic missiles, nearly 600 cruise missiles, and around 27,000 Shaheed kamikaze drones. In his words, Russian attacks are aimed at leaving Ukraine without electricity and gas and destroy the critical infrastructure. Despite these attacks, Ukraine has boosted its air defence system and stabilized its energy sector, the minister said. He added that interception rate of cruise missiles has reached around 80 percent, while attack drones this rate is nearly 90 percent.

Ukraine is intensifying its economic pressure on Russia, especially by targeting the energy sector, disrupting supply chains, and driving up the overall cost of the war, according to Fedorov. He emphasized that Kyiv’s core priorities have not shifted: strengthening air defense systems, expanding domestic production of drones and missiles, and ensuring a steady supply of long-range artillery ammunition.

Previously, Fedorov finalized an initial accord with Germany focused on sharing defense-related data, paving the way for collaborative evaluation of battlefield experience and the advancement of military technologies derived from those insights.

As part of this arrangement, both parties will jointly examine how German systems are being deployed—such as various advanced platforms and equipment—using authentic combat data gathered directly from real-world operations.
