Drone operators of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces have destroyed four valuable Russian air defence systems in eastern Donetsk region. The attack on Thursday night targeted three Russian Tor-M2 air defence systems and one Osa air defence system in Donetsk and Kherson regions with the use of domestically produced drones.
Both Tor-M2 and Osa are important assets of Russia’s layered air defences and are usually deployed to protect key military facilities on the frontline. Videos released by the Ukrainian military features the moments of the strikes.
In a separate operation on Thursday, Ukrainian troops fired six rare FP-5 “Flamingo” missiles at an ammunition depot deep in Russia, in the second confirmed use of this equipment. The missile targeted a key ammunition depot in Kotluban town in border Volgograd region, which lies 400 km from the state border with Ukraine. The strikes target the ammunition depot of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate. GRAU), of the Russian Ministry of Defense. The extent of the damage to the facility has yet to be verified. The depot that is in an active use, covers an area of 3.5 square kilometres and can hold 264,000 tons, although the exact number of shells stored in the facility and other details are not publicly known. The previous strikes on the ammunition depot took place twice in 2023 and once in 2024.
Developed by Ukraine’s Fire Point Defence firm, FP-5 “Flamingo” is a ground-launched missile that was first used in 2025.
Meanwhile, Russian Air Forces fired 24 Iskander missiles and over 200 UAVs at Ukraine on the night leading to February 12.
