Member states of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group have pledged $35 billion in additional military support for Ukraine.
Speaking at a press conference after the group’s meeting in Brussels, UK Defence Secretary John Healey said that Russian aggression was escalating, with continued missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian cities. He stressed that Moscow was deliberately targeting civilians, not only positions along the front line.
Healey emphasized that the Contact Group’s role is to back Ukraine in its current fight while also helping lay the groundwork for a secure and lasting peace.
He noted that allies are entering what he called a decisive year for Ukraine, marked by substantial new commitments, with the group agreeing on a total of $35 billion in fresh military assistance.
Furthermore, Healey stressed that allies would expand military assistance to Ukraine while intensifying pressure on Russia. He added that their goal is to make 2026 the year the war comes to an end and a stable peace is achieved.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, John Healey said that Ukraine’s resilience on the battlefield must be matched by the resolve of its partners, along with significant new commitments for 2026.
