Russia establishes new military hub in southern Ukraine, partisan group says

Russia is constructing a new military base near the occupied city of Melitopol in southern Ukraine, according to the Ukrainian partisan group “ATESH.”

On February 11, the group shared surveillance photos and precise coordinates of the site. ATESH reported via its Telegram channel that the base is being built in the settlement of Myrne in southeastern Zaporizhzhia region.

“The enemy is attempting to build a rear base for training reserves and UAV operators, assuming that being deep in occupied territory will shield them from strikes,” the group’s statement said.

Controlled by Russia’s 291st Guards Motor Rifle Regiment, the location is being developed into a field camp for Russian troops, with continuous monitoring reportedly conducted by ATESH operatives. The partisans published the exact coordinates of the facility and noted that heavy construction activity is ongoing.

The group also indicated that a drone training cluster is being established at the site, with Russian forces preparing designated areas for training drone operators.

Agents also carried out reconnaissance around Sevastopol Bay, a crucial part of the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s military logistics network.

Additionally, Atesh intelligence pinpointed a Russian repair and recovery base in the Kherson region, which was subsequently destroyed by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
