Four people were killed as Russia fired directly at a private home in Kramatorsk district in eastern Donetsk region on Thursday evening. The Donetsk region Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the attack, adding that the victims were three brothers, 19-year-old twins and an 8-year-old, and a 63-year-old man. The killed child’s mother and grandmother were among the three injured people.
The type of weapons used during attack are being determined.
Another civilian was killed as Russian troops launched more than 50 strikes on the Nikopol, Synelnykove, and Pavlohrad districts of the eastern Dnipropetrovsk region, according to the head of the Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Hanzha. A high-rise building, private houses, a dormitory, and infrastructure were damaged and cars were on fire as a result of the attack.
Russian forces also struck the Synelnykove district, targeting the town of Synelnykove and the Pokrovske community. Two women were wounded in the attack. Almost 24 private homes, along with a church and several vehicles, sustained damage.
The attack on civilian infrastructure on eastern Ukraine came as Russian forces are advancing near Chasiv Yar in Bakhmut district in Donetsk, according to DeepState report. With a pre-war population of 12,000, Chasiv Yar has become one of the key targets of the Russian offensive after the battles for Bakhmut. Due to its elevated location, Chasiv Yar is of strategic importance as control over the city allows control over the surrounding territories.
Chasiv Yar is part of a defensive line covering the direction to Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. Important logistics routes passed through the city.
