Pro-Ukrainian Atesh partisan group has disabled a communication infrastructure in Russia’s border Belgorod region.
In a statement posted on Telegram app, the group revealed that an agent affiliated with the group set ablaze a hardware module at the base of a communication tower, which resulted in the destruction of the ground equipment, with all the infrastructure installed on the mast being completely de-energized and put out of action. This act of sabotage "effectively blinded the enemy in this sector”, the group stated. Furthermore, the group claimed that the disabling of control equipment along the front line has opened a window for Ukrainian troops to bypass signal-jamming measures.
"The tower served as a platform for electronic warfare antennas that suppressed drone signals. The destruction of this technical post opened a 'window' for the unimpeded operation of Ukrainian" drones, Atesh said.
Prior to the sabotage, the tower housed Murum-P video surveillance systems that, according to Atesh, provided real-time monitoring of activity in the border area. After the control equipment was knocked out, the group said the location effectively turned into a “blind spot” for Russian forces.
It should be noted that the Russian army was cut off from access to Starlink satellite internet across the frontline in early February, in a move Ukrainian officials described as a serious blow to the Kremlin’s force’s ability communicate.
