US to restore military aid, intelligence sharing with Ukraine

The United States on Tuesday lifted a pause on providing military aid to Ukraine and intelligence sharing with Kyiv after delegates from Ukraine agreed to accept the Trump administration’s proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Russia. The two countries’ representatives met in Saudi Arabia this week to negotiate the end to the war with Russia.

"Ukraine expressed readiness to accept the U.S. proposal to enact an immediate, interim 30-day ceasefire, which can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties," according to a joint statement issued Tuesday after meetings in Saudi Arabia.

Following the decision to lift pause on military aid, US resumed weapons deliveries to Ukraine, including the supplies of artillery shells, anti-tank weapons, and ammunition for HIMARS rocket systems that were part of the aid packages approved by Biden’s administration. The suspension of aid from Ukraine’s closest ally US came after the unruly Oval Office meeting in which Donald Trump berated Voldymyr Zelenskiy for not being thanking for US military aid provided to Kyiv since three years of Russia’s full-fledged invasion. Following the meeting, Donald Trump told Zelenskiy to leave the White House without signing of the minerals deal and accused the Ukrainian leader of not being ready for peace.
