Russia suffers record losses in failed breakthrough in Ukraine frontline in 2025

Russia suffered a record high number of losses in its war of invasion in Ukraine, with the number of killed personnel surpassing 140,000 since the start of the year, Ukrainian military said on Saturday.

Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi said on April 12 that Russia’s attempts to break through the Ukrainian defence resulted in the loss of over 140,650 personnel since the start of the year. Syrskyi thanked Ukrainian soldiers for “their resilience and accuracy” in fighting Russian army.=

In addition, The General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on Saturday that from April 11 to 12, the Russian army lost 1,240 soldiers, two multiple rocket launch systems, and about 50 artillery systems in the war in Ukraine. Some 347 Russian troops were neutralized near embattled Pokrovsk in eastern Donetsk that has been the main focus of Russian offensive recently. Moreover, Ukrainian forces destroyed one armored fighting vehicle, two artillery systems, 17 vehicles, three units of special equipment, an electronic warfare system, and a UAV control point; they also damaged three artillery systems and three vehicles.
