US sends three Boeing 747 transport planes loaded with weapons to Ukraine via Poland

The US has sent another batch of weapons to Ukraine via Poland, OSINTtechnical reported on Sunday.

According to the report, three Boeing 747 transport planes from the United States Transportation Command, known as USTRANSCOM, landed in Poland’s Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport from where they will be sent to Ukraine. “The US airbridge supporting Ukraine continued this weekend, with three loaded USTRANSCOM 747s landing at Rzeszow International Airport, the gateway for Western aid headed to Ukraine. The last one, CMB338, touched down in Rzeszow moments ago,” the reported posted on X social media platform reads.

It’s worth noting that the Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport has been transformed into a military and aid hub due to Ukraine’s airspace closure amid the war, positioning Rzeszów as the nearest NATO airport to the Ukrainian border. The airport’s strategic location and infrastructure, such as long runway, enables it to handle increased military aid traffic. The latest delivery might be part of the $500 million military aid package that the outdoing Biden administration signed off as part of the Presidential Drawdown Authority, PDA, in early January. It would bring the overall US military assistance to Ukraine to more than $65 billion. Before the government’s transition in January, outgoing US President Joe Biden approved his final military aid package in an attempt to boost Ukraine’s defences before the inauguration of president-elect Donald Trump who is sceptical about military assistance to Kyiv. The package included a variety of critical defense equipment.

According to Ukrainian media, the new military aid package will include ammunition for high-mobility artillery rocket systems, known as HIMARS, air-launched high-speed anti-radiation missiles, or HARM, anti-personnel landmines, 155 mm artillery rounds, TOW anti-tank guided missiles, known as ATGM, drone countermeasures, and spares for Ukraine’s F-16 fighter aircraft. The aid comes at a critical moment when Ukraine braces for Donald Trump’s second term as president. Trump is expected to deliver his campaign pledged to conclude the war in Ukraine promptly, raising fears that Kyiv might be forced to make concessions during possible peace talks with Moscow.
