Ukrainian troops have launched a social media campaign to thank the United Stated for the military aid provided to Kyiv since the start of the full-fledged war with Russia three years ago.
In the videos circulated in Telegram app in the past week, Ukrainian servicemen have demonstrated US provided military equipment such as PATRIOT advanced air defence system, the Hawk air defense missile system, F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter aircraft and thanked the US for helping to save civilian lives by supplying these key defence systems.
The social media campaign comes days after the unruly Oval Office meeting in which US President Donald Trump berated Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskiy for not being “grateful” for US military aid to Kyiv.
“Dear Americans, thank you for your support you have provided for Ukrainians. This Hawk has already shut down a number of cruise missiles, saved lives. I have been in US, I was studying there. You’ve a great country. It’s beautiful. I wish Ukraine could some day be as peaceful, strong as United States,” a Ukrainian operator of US-provided Hawk anti-aircraft missile system said in a video address posted on Telegram. In yet another video, an operator of Patriot defence system praised American people for standing by Ukraine. “Thanks for your support, we are still alive and we can protect our cities and civilians who live there,” the operator said. Earlier, a video of pilots of F-16 fighters jets went viral. The Ukrainian pilots were holding posters with US and Ukrainian flags and with words of gratitude to the US while operating the fighter jets in the air.
The relations between the US and Ukraine have been deteriorating with Donald Trump accusing Ukrainian president of not showing enough gratitude to US and haling military aid and intelligence sharing and satellite feed with Kyiv.
