Ukrainian troops have destroyed a Russian military headquarters in southeastern Zaporizhzhia region. The operation carried out by the Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, known as HUR, in cooperation with the Tavria Group of Forces on Monday, December 30.

“Aerial reconnaissance by the HUR's Active Operations Department identified the headquarters' location. Working with the Tavria Group of Forces, they carried out a precise missile strike on the target,” the agency reported in its Facebook page. Six Russian soldiers were killed and three others were heavily injured, while the military headquarters was destroyed during the attack.

This was the second attack on Russian military targets on Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region in the past few days. Last week, three Russian officers were killed in the region as a result of the operation carried by the HUR's Active Operations Department, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and the Tavria Group of Forces.

In another development on the night leading to December 30, Ukraine's air defense forces shot down 21 Russian drones and veered off course 22 simulator drones. Overall, Russian troops launched seven airstrikes with nine guided aerial bombs on Ukrainian positions and settlements, conducting over 5,000 shelling attacks, including 188 from multiple rocket launchers, and deploying approximately 2,400 kamikaze drones for strikes, Ukraine’s military reported.
