Russia has repurposed and resumed the use of an underground submarine base in Crimea peninsula for the purpose of countering Ukrainian sabotage attacks, Atesh guerrilla group reported on Monday.

As per the report, Russian troops in Balaklava Bay are strengthening marine engineering barriers to defend against drones and sabotage teams.

In a statement published on Telegram App, Atesh partisans warned that Russia is “reinforcing naval engineering barriers designed to protect against unmanned boats and sabotage groups. We are actively searching for weak points in this defense in Crimea’s Balaklava Bay.” Accoring to the group, Russian troops are also using for military purposes an old underground submarine capable of sheltering submarines, repairing and maintaining them. Previously used as a museum and located in Balaclava, the facility is an underground complex capable of sheltering submarines and providing repair and maintenance.

Atesh group reported that Ukrainian partisans are actively looking for vulnerabilities in Russian defenses and passing information to the Defense Forces of Ukraine who “know how to organize surprises for the invaders”.

It was earlier reported that Russian forces are strengthening air defense forces near the Hvardiyske airfield in occupied Crimea, relocating equipment from other front-line areas.
