Russian drones attacked a chemical plant in western Russian city Tula on the night leading to Saturday. According to Ukrainian Security Service, SBU, over 13 Ukrainian drones hit the Aleksinsky chemical plant in Tula, causing explosions and clouds of smoke due to gunpowder at the site.
"The plant itself was shut down, and personnel evacuated," a source within the SBU said, adding that a 110 kV was damaged during the attack. Aleksinskiy chemical plant, which lies 200 km south of Moscow, is involved in manufacturing materials, ammunition and gunpowder for the Russian military industrial complex, according to the SBU. The plant's operations were suspended and the personnel were evacuated following the Ukrainian attack.
The SBU said in a statement that it carries out “comprehensive operation” against facilities in Russian territory involved in war against Ukraine.
“The destruction of weapons depots, military airfields and enterprises that are part of the Russian military industry reduces Russia’s ability to terrorize our country,” the source stressed.
The governor of Tula region, Dmitriy Miliayev, stated that all Ukrainian drones launched over Tula region were downed by the Defence Ministry’s units, however, did not mention the Aleksinskiy chemical plant. Meanwhile, the Russian Defence Ministry said “an attempt by the Kyiv regime last night to carry out a terrorist attack using airplane-type UAVs against facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation was foiled.”
