Ukrainian forces have launched a successful counteroffensive in eastern Donestk region as Russian offensive operations show signs of decreasing in intensity, British intelligence reported on Monday.

According to the British intelligence report shared by the UK Defence Ministr on X on Monday, Russian troops are putting increasing pressure on Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region from the west, north and east.

Ukrainian forces are likely to retain control over an area of about 300 square kilometers.  At the same time, the review notes that Russian occupation forces are conducting fewer offensive operations on other parts of the front compared to late 2024 and early 2025.

In the Pokrovsk area, where the main Russian units are concentrated, Ukrainian troops carried out a number of counterattacks in the area of the settlements of Peschanoye, Udachnoye, Shevchenko, as well as in the area of the T-05-06 logistics highway.

"The scope for Ukrainian counteroffensives has increased due to the reduction in the number of ground offensive operations conducted by Russia," the review says. The report added that Russian supply lines in the direction of embattled Pokrovsk were also weakened by attacks by Ukrainian FPV drones.
