Ukraine claims it sank another Russian ship off Crimea

Ukraine claims it has struck another Russian ship off the coast of Russian-annexed Crimea peninsula.
A large Russian amphibious ship, the Caesar Kunikov, has been struck with “MAGURA” V5 drones, the Ukrainian military intelligence agency reported on Telegram app on Wednesday. The agency released a video of what it says was the “MAGURA” V5 drones striking the ship. The attack was carried out by the agency’s “Group 13” special forces unit in cooperation with Ukraine’s security and defense forces, according to the statement. Wednesday’s attack showed once again the vulnerability of Russia’s Black Sea fleet against Ukraine’s unmanned naval vessels.
The Kremlin has not commented on the reported attack yet.
The Ukrainian armed forces told CNN, “Ukraine has disabled a third of the Russian Black Sea Fleet during the large-scale invasion”. Caesar Kunikov will be the 25th disabled Russian warship, according to Ukraine’s count.
Wednesday’s attack is the latest in a series of Ukrainian strikes on Russia’s Black Sea Fleet and the second carried out this year. On February 1, Ukrainian Magura V5 sea drones struck the Russian warship Ivanovets in a night-time attack. Last week Ukraine claimed its forces disabled 24 ships and one submarine, amounting to around 33 percent of Russia’s warships.
As Russia’s invasion nears its second anniversary, Ukraine has stepped up its attacks on Crimea that Russia annexed in 2014.
