Trump suggests relocating Palestinian outside Gaza

US President Donald Trump has proposed to “clean out” Gaza population by relocating about 2.4 million Palestinians to neighbouring Egypt and Jordan.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Trump said he’d like to see Jordan, Egypt and other Arab nations increase the number of Palestinian refugees they are accepting from the Gaza Strip, adding that he had already raised the issue with Jordan’s leader. “l would rather get involved with some of the Arab nations and build housing at a different location where they can maybe live in peace for a change,” Trump said.

" I’d like Egypt to take people. You're talking about probably a million and half people, and we just clean out that whole thing," Trump said of Gaza, noting that he had a call earlier in the day with King Abdullah II of Jordan and would also speak on Sunday with President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi of Egypt.

Jordan is already home to around 2.3 million registered Palestinian refugees, according to the United Nations. Trump also said he's ended his predecessor’s hold on sending 2,000-pound bombs to Israel.

“We released them today," Trump said of the bombs. “They’ve been waiting for them for a long time." Asked why he lifted the ban on those bombs, Trump responded, “Because they bought them.”
