Seven killed in Russian shelling of southern Ukraine

Seven people, including a toddler, were killed in another Russian attack on Ukraine’s southern Kherson region on Monday. The shelling over the weekend targeted the villages of Shiroka Balka and Stanislav on Dnipro River bank, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry reported. The attack on Kherson followed Ukrainian Defence Minister Hanna Maliar’s comments on Saturday that the country’s armed forces landed on the occupied left bank of Dnipro River in the region.

 The Ukrainian general staff also announced on Saturday that the Ukrainian troops had liberated some territories and made “partial success” in Russian stronghold of Robotyne area in Zaporizhzhia region. Ukraine launched counteroffensive in multiple points along the line of contact in Zaporizhzhia region in recent weeks.

Another attack on civilians occurred in Ukraine’s port city of Odessa on August 14. Three civilians were injured after Russia launched two waves of missile attacks on the city overnight. The governor Oleh Kiper said that falling rocket fragment had caused fires. He nearby city of Mykolaiv was also targeted.
