At least 14 people have been killed as Russia launched heavy aerial strike across several Ukrainian regions, including in Kharkiv and eastern Donetsk region where Russia has intensified assaults.

Ukraine’s emergency service said two missiles hit the center of Dobropillia town in Donetsk, setting a five-story apartment building in fire. The attack was followed by a second Russian strike that killed eleven civilians, among them five children, and injured 30 others.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy slammed the attack as “vile and inhuman intimidation tactic often used by the Russians”. Three more people were killed and seven injured in a drone strike in Bohodukhiv city in Kharkiv region.

Commenting on the deadly strikes, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, said there had been “another tragic night in Ukraine”, with “more bombs, more aggression and more victims”. He added that “this is what happens when someone appeases barbarians,” in a clear reference to US President Donald Trump who has passed a series of anti-Ukrainian laws and made pro-Russian comments.

This week, Trump’s administration stopped intelligence sharing with Kyiv and suspend US military aid to Ukraine. Trump has also recently made series of anti-Ukrainian comments. Trump on Friday acknowledged that Ukraine was subjected to “tremendous pounding”, however added that “anyone in Putin’s position” would do the same. Earlier on Tuesday, before a meeting between US and Ukrainian representatives in Saudi Arabia, Trump said he was “finding it easier” to deal with Moscow than with Kyiv
