Russian overnight airstrikes kill 13, injure dozens across Ukraine

Thirteen people were killed and dozens of others were injured in Russia’s airstrikes on Ukraine, local authorities reported on Saturday.
Russian airstrike in southeastern Zaporizhzhia killed ten people and injured 22, including a four-month-old infant and children aged four and 11, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported. At least six of the injured are in a critical condition. The regional police reported that Russian troops attacked Zaporizhzhia using FAB-250 bombs with UMPC kit. Authorities are currently working on identifying the bodies.
Krivoy Rih city in Ukraine’s central Dnipropetrvosk region also came under intense Russian shelling on Saturday. The death toll in the attacked reached three people, while the number of injured people was 17. The Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Serhii Lysak said search and rescue operation was underway to rescue survivors. The attacks damaged two buildings, 10 private houses, three administrative buildings, an educational institution, and cars in the city.
The Nikopol district in the city was struck with Grad MLRS and heavy artillery. Two industrial enterprises were damaged in the attack.

According to some reports, Moscow seeks to capture as many lands as possible before US-president Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20 to gain an advantageous position at negotiation table. Russian Security Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said last week that the peace agreement with Ukraine is likely to take place in 2025.
