Russia launched a deadly missile attack on Ukraine’s second largest northeastern Kharkiv region on Wednesday. One civilian was killed and six were injured as a result of the strike, Regional Prosecutor's Office reported via Telegram app.
Russian forces launched airstrikes on Kharkiv around 4:20 PM local time, according to law enforcement. The attacks targeted two children’s summer camps. In the Kyivskyi district, a 39-year-old camp employee was injured. In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a 47-year-old employee suffered a stress reaction and a nearby private residence was damaged.
Russian forces continued their attacks on the Kharkiv region, targeting residential areas and causing civilian casualties. Around 4:30 PM, a Russian airstrike hit the village of Vilkhivka in the Kharkiv district, killing a 49-year-old woman and injuring a 59-year-old man. The prosecutor’s office reported that the strikes on Kharkiv and Vilkhivka likely used modified UMPB D-30 gliding bombs launched from the Belgorod region.
Earlier that day Russian forces launched an airstrike on the village of Novo-osynove in the Kupiansk district, damaging homes and a car. A 51-year-old resident was hospitalized with injuries, while a 73-year-old woman and a 66-year-old man suffered concussions.
Throughout the day, Russian artillery targeted the village of Zahryzove in the Izium district, damaging nearly a dozen residential buildings. Ukrainian media earlier reported that Russian troops hit Kharkiv using three gliding bombs.
