Mulino military training ground in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region came under a barrage of drone attacks on Friday, Russian ASTRA Telegram channel reported, citing eyewitness accounts.
No casualties were reported during the attack, with Rosaviatsia, Russian Federal Air Transport Agency, reporting earlier that day that Strigino Airport in Nizhny Novgorod had temporarily suspended flights.
According to open data, Mulino is home to the 333rd Combat Training Center of the Western Military District. The training ground is unique in a way that it combines traditional training grounds with modern computer technologies such as complex simulators that recreate 3D battlefields and includes physical models of cities and towns for tactical exercises. Equipped with tank ranges and other specialized training areas, the training ground can accommodate up to 3 brigades annually, training 700 servicemen at once, and offers training for up to 30,000 personnel each year
The fresh attack came days after allegations of torture of conscripts in the training ground. According to ASTRA channel, wounded soldiers were handcuffed to a radiator and beaten in the headquarters’ territory. There has been no official reaction from Kyiv on the strike on Mulino military training ground. It should be noted that Ukraine has stepped up attacks on military and industrial facilities in Russia’s territory in response to Moscow’s relentless attacks on civilian infrastructure.
