Russia to respond to Ukraine’s use of ATACMS in attack on Rostov

Russia has warned to respond to Ukraine’s use of US-made ATACMS long-range missiles in an attack on its southern Rostov region.
On Wednesday, Russian Defence Ministry said Ukraine launched six US-made Army Tactical Missile System ,ATACMS, on Taganrog city in southern Rostov region. The ministry warned of “relevant measures” following the attack.
“A response will follow when and in a manner deemed appropriate. It will definitely happen,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday. The attack damaged Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex producing aircraft, caused at least ten explosions, triggered air defence system and burned 14 vehicles, local authorities reported.
Local authorities, led by Taganrog mayor Svetlana Kambulova, cordoned off the area within a one-kilometre radius for safety inspections. Dozens of houses were left without heating due to the attack.
On the same day, Bryansk region’s governor Alexander Bogomaz reported a Ukrainian drone attack on the region. Residents reported ten explosions. The attack caused fire in Druzhba oil pipeline filling station in the village of Sven in Bryansk. Emergency crews extinguished the blaze. According to the Russian Defence Ministry, Russian Air Defences destroyed fourteen Ukrainian drones in Bryansk region.
Pentagon on Wednesday said Russia could strike Ukraine with “Oreshnik”medium-range ballistic missiles in the coming days in response to the West. Russia first launched “Oreshnik” experimental missile on Ukraine’s southern Dnipro city on November 21 in response to Ukraine’s use of western long-range missiles in an attack on Russia.
