Despite making considerable gains in the frontline, Russia continues to suffer heavy combat losses in terms of manpower and military hardware in its war in Ukraine.
As much as 1,350 Russian servicemen were killed or wounded in the past 24 hours alone, bringing the number of Moscow’s casualties to 755,940 sine the start of Ukraine’s full-fledged invasion in February 2022, the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces reported on Tuesday.
In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the General Staff also revealed that Ukrainian troops destroyed 5 Russian main battle tanks, 7 armored fighting vehicles, 3 artillery systems, 14 operational and tactical-level UAVs, 48 vehicles and fuel tankers, and one unit of specialized equipment during the fighting in the past day.
Overall, Russia has lost 9,524 main battle tanks, 19,596 armored fighting vehicles, 21,064 artillery systems, 1,253 multiple-launch rocket systems, 1,023 air defense systems, 369 warplanes, 329 helicopters, 20,107 operational and tactical-level unmanned aerial vehicles, 2,859 cruise missiles, 28 warships/cutters, a submarine, 31,037 vehicles and fuel tankers, and 3,637 units of specialized equipment since the start of the war.
It should be noted that Russia has not revealed its military losses in its war in Ukraine. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy claimed on December 8 that 198,000 Russian soldiers were killed and more than 550,000 others were wounded in the three-years-old war. Zelenskiy also revealed his country’s combat losses, stating that 43,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed and 370,000 wounded since the start of the war.
Meanwhile, Volodymyr Zelenskiy instructed the armed forces to “reboot” military training during the meeting held with the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Staff.
