Russia’s Bryansk region came under Ukrainian attacks at least 700 times in January, the regional governor Alexander Bogomaz, said on Thursday.
"The region is repeatedly attacked by the Ukrainian armed forces. Just in January there were over 700 attacks. Unfortunately, there are victims among civilians," Bogomaz said during a video meeting with President Vladimir Putin.
Bogomaz said that the attacks in January led to casualties among civilians, the complete destruction of 144 buildings and semi-destruction of 1,800 houses. In turn, Putin thanked the governor for providing necessary support to Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine and their families. Earlier, on Thursday morning, the governor reported a large-scale Ukrainian drone attack on the region. In a post on Telegram, Bogomaz said Ukraine launched 36 drones on Bryansk, adding that no casualties had been reported.
Ukraine launched two major attacks on Bryansk on January 19 and 24, targeting the Kremniy microelectronics plant, one of the largest such enterprises in Russia, as well as Klinskiy oil depot in the region, causing fire and explosions. Some 31 Ukrainians drones were shot down over the region on January 24.
It should be noted that Russia and Ukraine claimed intercepting dozens of drones overnight on Thursday. Moscow reported downing 83 Ukrainian drones across Russia, while Kyiv reported that 85 Russian drones, including Iranian-made Shaheed kamikaze drones, were intercepted.
