Three people, including two children were killed in a fresh Russian airstrike on a residential building in Ukraine’s second-largest northeastern Kharkiv region on Thursday.
"The body of a 15-year-old boy with no signs of life was pulled from the rubble of the destroyed part of the nine-story building," Kharkiv region Governor Oleh Syniehubov said.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Russia dropped a 500-kilogramme guided bomb on the building in the city of 1.1 million. The Ukrainian leader condemned the attack in a post on X social media platform.
"Partners see what is happening every day. And under these conditions, each of their delayed decisions means at least dozens, if not hundreds, of such Russian bombs against Ukraine. Their decisions are the lives of our people," Zelenskyy wrote, stressing that "we must together stop Russia and do it with all possible force.”
Located around 30 kilometres from the Russian border, Kharkiv has been struck multiple times since the war broke out nearly three years ago. Russia has increasingly used powerful glide bombs to strike Ukrainian positions as well as Ukrainian cities far from the frontline.
In a separate attack on Thursday, Russian troops fired 10 missiles of various types at the Dnistro Estuary bridge connecting the northern and southern parts of the southern Odesa region. Two of the missiles were intercepted by Ukrainian Air Force.
