Russia captures two more villages in eastern Ukraine

Russian troops have captured two more villages near the frontline Avdiivka village that fell under Russian occupation over a week ago.

Military spokesperson Dmytro Lykhoviy said on Tuesday that the Ukrainian troops withdrew from the small villages of Sievierne and Stepove.

“Heavy battles for Sievierne went on yesterday in the evening and night," Lykhoviy said, stressing that Russia suffered heavy losses during the battle.
Meanwhile, DeepState reported on Telegram: "Progress by the adversary is evident near Orlivka, Berdychi, and Tonenko, with control established over Stepov and Severny. Uncertainty surrounds the choice of locations for the next 'prepared' defensive lines by OSUV Tavria command."

The capture of Avdiivka after months of fighting was Russia’s most significant gain since the capture of Bakhmut last May.

Confronted with a lack of personnel and ammunition, Ukraine had to retreat from the industrial center in the eastern Donetsk region. This withdrawal marked Moscow's initial significant territorial acquisition since Bakhmut.

Additional information from DeepState highlights a coordinated push by Russian forces towards the western outskirts of Avdiivka, indicating a strategic intent to extend their reach into operational territories.

Analysts note that, despite ongoing challenges in various regions, the pressure is most pronounced in the vicinity of Avdiivka.
