North Korean artillery system is destroyed in eastern Ukraine

Ukrainian army on Tuesday took out antother North Korean artillery system, M-1978 Koksan self-propelled gun, known as SPG, in eastern Donetsk region.

The operation to destroy the North Korean-supplied artillery system was carried out by the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces. Posting in a Telegrap app, the group said the Koksan was intercepted and disabled by soldiers from the 413th “Raid” Battalion. The video footage attacked to the report showed the moment of the strike on a Koksan in a Russian position.  

Being one of the longest-range artillery pieces in Russia’s arsenal, Koksan can fire up to 40 kilometer tandard rounds and 60 kilometers with rocket assisted ammunition. It’s equipped with a 170-mm cannon. The latest destruct of Koksan propelled guns was recorded on March 19 when Ukrinain Armed Forces struck Russia’s Kursk region with HIMARS High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, disabling three Koksan artillery systems.

North Korea has supplied Russia with 120 Koksan arillery systems to compensate for Russia’s heavy losses in the war with Ukraine. The first movement of Koksans through Russia was recorded during November and December. According to some reports, North Korean arillery and ammunition make up more than half of stocks being used by Russian forces in eastern Ukraine.
