Ukrainian forces shot down 62 Russian drones attacking various regions of Ukraine on Saturday evening.
The General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that air surveillance troops of the Ukrainian Air Force intercepted and tracked 145 aerial targets, including Shaheed assault drones and unidentified drones, launched from Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Oryol, Bryansk in Russia as well as Russian-held Crimea Peninsula.
Of the 145 UAVs, 62 were intercepted in Odesa, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, and eastern Donetsk region. Ten other Russian drones exited Ukrainian airspace toward Moldova, Belarus, and Russia, the General Staff stated.
No casualties were reported during massive Russian drone attack over the weekend. However, there were reports of damage in apartment buildings and private properties in south-western Odessa city, where Russia seeks to develop new routes and tactics for future aerial attacks, according to Ukrainian military official Serhii Bratchuk.
Following Russia’s large-scale drone attack on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy revealed that his country was hit with more than 800 guided aerial bombs, about 600 strike drones and almost 20 missiles of various types during the week.
"Such terror cannot be stopped with words, and the killing of children and the loss of loved ones cannot simply be forgotten," Zelenskiy said, stressing that "without justice, there is no lasting peace, and it is quite realistic for Ukraine to achieve it.”
