Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, known as IRGC, has showed off a giant underground missile base amid growing tension in the Middle East and the political row between Tehran and Washington.
The 85-second video shared in local media on Tuesday showed two senior military officials - RGC Aerospace Force Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh and the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, riding through a missile base packed with a large number of missiles and rockets.
Iran’s pro-government Press TV quoted Mohammad Hossein Bagheri as saying that “All the defensive dimensions that are required for generating a military capability that is ten times stronger than the one deployed during Operation True Promise II, has been created.” Operation True Promise II is a reference to Iran’s retalitoary attack on Israel in 2024, in which most of the missiles hit their intended targets against Israel. Bagheri added: “The enemy will definitely fall behind in this balance of power”.
Addressing the personnel of the missile base, also referred to as a “missile city”, Bagheri said: “Iran’s iron fist is far stronger than before.”
The unveiling of the massive missile base comes amid heightened tension in the region, particularly deadly US attacks against Iran-backed Houthi militants in Yemen. Recently, the relations between the two countries have also hit another low with Trump warning Tehran to come to negotiation table over its nuclear program.
