Ukrainian troops have for the first time deployed France’s Mirage-2000 jets in fighting with Russia.
The fighter that has advanced radar was deployed in Ukraine’s counterattack on March 7. Ukrainian troops downed 134 Russian air targets with Mirage-2000 jets, including 25 missiles "X-101/X-55"; - 8 Kalibr cruise missiles; - 1 missile "Kh-59/69"; - 100 Shaheed-type attack drones. Ukraine said main target of Russian attack was gas production facilities.
Supplied to Ukrainian armed forces just a month ago, Mirage-2000 is a fourth-generation supersonic fighter and a valuable asset for Ukraine’s Air Force.
The Mirage 2000-5 variant, introduced in 1999, features upgraded avionics, improved air-to-air and air-to-ground combat capabilities, and an advanced sensor and control system.
